I'm so sad. Scratch that, I'm so pissed! Raging waters has been bought out by seven peaks. That means it's closed Sundays, you can't bring food in and you have to pay for parking! They're also planning on making lots of changes to the park. Not gonna lie, I'm gonna miss feeling like the stairs are gonna break out from under me, the incredible Sunday people watching and the giant raging waters sign painted above the wave pool.

Say Cheese

My mom recently informed me of this awesome way to make cheese. It's delicious, nonfat and so simple! If you know me, you know i LOVE cream cheese. Now i have a more healthy alternative to use on my bagels.

For anyone who wants to try it, i took some pictures to accompany my instructions. (ignore my non-ironed background...)

First, get your supplies together. You will need a strainer, some coffee filters, plastic wrap, a dish that your strainer can rest on top of (make sure there is a good space between the strainer and the bottom of the dish though, you don't want your cheese resting in liquid!) and some nonfat plain yogurt. The yogurt can't have gelatin in it though so make sure to check the ingredients list!

Next, put three coffee filters into the strainer and dump your yogurt into it. Cover the top with plastic wrap and set onto your dish. Make a space for it in your fridge and start the process!

After about a day the cheese will be thick and creamy and ready for eating! You can however, keep your cheese in there longer depending on your desired thickness. I added some herbs to mine and spread it on crackers. You can even do a sweet one and add maybe some honey or fruit.

Anyone else watchin The Bachelor this season? I know, i know it's terrible TV but I'm hooked. Normally i am not into TV shows like this... actually i don't really watch TV. But i started watching this season of The Bachelor because there is a girl on it from Salt Lake City who i have met once or twice ;) And wowza is she crazy on this show. Seriously, they must be paying her more to be so crazy/bitchy!

Here are 5 reasons why i am addicted to this show:

1- The bachelor is smokin' hot!

2- It's fascinating to me that someone could literally go on that show believing they will find true love.

3- It's even more fascinating to me that all 30 girls just HAPPEN to fall in love with the same guy.

4- Girls are crazy. Especially ones who go on shows like this. And boy does it make for some good entertainment.

5- NONE of the girls can walk in their heels and it's hilarious.

This weekend i made some homemade oreos for a friends birthday and to give to my new neighbors. For Christmas i got a bunch of different food colorings from my mom so i was excited to try them out on the frosting.

I love Christmas and there are so many fun crafts/baking/DIY's to do during the month of December. I seriously wasn't going to let myself miss out on anything so i got my shopping done early and have had the whole month to do whatever Christmas inspired things i want! Yesterday the fam met at my moms and made tonz of Christmas treats!

Not my favorite day to have off i've decided. I've always wanted a "real" job where i get saturdays off but now that i've had a saturday off, i'm not so sure anymore. There are SO MANY PEOPLE out! It takes me ten times longer to do anything. Maybe it's just because it's December though and people be gettin crayzay!

I don't know if anyone else has been following the Elizabeth Smart trial on KSL but i have and it's crazy! You can read the transcripts of Elizabeth's testimony on day two here, but i can't find day 1 again... they might have taken it down. Anyway, i feel some uber respect for her for telling her story to the world. It is crazy what she went through at such a young age. I also felt so sad thinking about her parents having to listen to their daughter tell what she went through. The testimony is pretty detailed but it's really interesting. I didn't know alot of what happened and now that i know, i feel like i respect her even more. So read up if you haven't!

6:30PM-Arrive at In the venue (hate that name) to a huge line around the corner. Doors are supposed to open at 6:30.

6:35-Line moves a few feet then stops. Just to trick you.

6:40-I spot a white mysterious ball on Sarah's arm.
"What's on your arm? Wait...no....it can't be..."
SNOW.

6:45-Downpour of snow/ice balls.

6:48-Start talking to lesbian couple behind us. We share the same opinions on many of our fellow concert goers. Lebian couple makes fun of girl randomly singing in line (after she leaves). I make fun of girl with a grocery sack on her head. We laugh.

7:00- Line still isn't moving. Bangs are frizzy and weird. Roof of building is dripping water on my head. Sarah's hat is sopping.

7:15-Line splits into two. Will call and hard tickets. I'm in hard tickest and will call is going faster. The rage is building.

7:20-Starting to think listening to Ingrid real loud in my house while enjoying a hot cup of somethin sounds better...

7:30-Talking to Lesbians again. Discussing beating anyone who tries butting us in line.

7:40-We're on the move!

7:50-We're in!

9:30(approximately)-Ingrid comes on stage with her band posse, all dressed in black cloaks with the hoods covering their faces. Sarah: "I'm scared!"

Ingrid reveals herself. She is wearing AMAZING boots that will be on my mind until i find them for myself.

Ingrid opens with "Soldier" and rocks my socks right off.

Ingrid talks to the audience the whole time.

Ingrid plays/sings while we sing/dance.

Ingrid tells us instead of leaving the stage while we applaud for an encore, she and her band will just hide onstage instead.

They hide while we clap wildly.

She sings not one but TWO more songs. One being an awesome remix of "The way i am."

11:00ish-Show ends.
I remember why i love music/shows/concerts so much. I forget about the long line of cold we waited in.

11:10-We walk outside the venue into a blizzard. I remember how much i hate winter.

11:15-Sarah and i listen to Ingrid on the way home like it's our first time hearing her music. Don't you love how that happens.

I got another haircut on thursday to help with the growing out stages i'm going through and seriously, it is unreal how someone could be so good at their job. Steven Petersen, hair is definitely your calling in life. This time around was just a simple trim and a few added bangs but just like every other time, it's perfect. He knows how to cut it so you barely have to do any work in the mornings. I never thought that bangs would just go the way they were supposed to. I always struggled with bangs before, trying too hard to will them to go the way i wanted but i have come to realize it wasn't me or my hair, it was the person cutting it! Okay done with my ramblings to the hair God but seriously, if you are willing to spend a little extra dough for a haircut that will rock your socks off... make your way to Dexterity salon and see Steven.

Saddest girl alive

When i can feel the end of summer approaching i get so sad. I need to relax and enjoy the rest of the summer but i get so stressed about the fact that we are that much closer to winter! And i hate when people say things like, Winters comin. We know! Let's ignore that fact until i actually see snow! I HATE WINTER.

Who likes:
-Driving in the snow
-Scraping their car
-Waking up ten min early TO scrape your car
-Wearing a coat everywhere that makes your hair static-y and then you get in a store and it's hot so you have to carry it
-Being cooped up inside all day everyday
-Being pale and white
-Getting winter colds
The only person i know who literally loves winter and doesn't mind these things is KIMBA. And she is crazy.

Okay i probably shouldn't have written all that cause now it got me thinking about it! Time to think about how i'm going to spend the rest of the summer...

-More pool time
-Going to Hailee's cabin for a girls trip
-Making smooooothies
-Going on a few hikes
-Heading up to the mountains for some campfires and S'mores

This summer has been a fine one. It started out just right with a trip to the Bahamas followed by BBQ's, bike riding, outside concerts, swimming and snow cones. I am eating up every second of this hot weather because i know how summer flies by in Utah.

Even better, i get to cruise around the streets in my new car! Yay, i have air conditioning again!! And my bike fits in it! I knew i had to buy this car when i test drove it and the previous owners ipod started playing Tilly and the wall.

And how could i blog without sharing a couple new photos of cute Sienna.

Poor little babe has to get surgery tomorrow on her eye :(

4th of July

The fourth of July weekend this year was a blast! Saturday, me Alisha and my mom went up to Sarah and Skips. We made dinner and played monopoly and of course, fought over who got to hold Sienna. It was kind of a low key night but it was fun. Sunday, me and the girls did so much! We wanted to go to the pool when we woke up but it was a bit breezy (oh Utah!) so we hopped on our bikes and went for a ride. We ended up taking a bunch of pictures unexpectedly so ignore my hair. Then we came home and discovered a cherry tree in our yard! Unfortunately most all the cherries were up high so we only got to eat a few. However, our apricot tree was full of fruit! Then we all made food including these delicious chocolate chip cookies that have a brownie inside and took them to a friends for a night of BBQ'n and fun!

On Sunday, June 13th at 11:46pm Sienna Jane Schenck was born.
She is the cutest baby ever, but i guess i could be biased. I never knew i could love a baby so much and this is just a niece! I can't even imagine the love Sarah and Skip feel for their lil babe. Sarah had the baby completely natural and i got to witness it all. She was so tough and didn't even scream!

I seriously cannot get enough of little baby Sienna and her cute head of hair! All her clothes are too big on her cause she is so teeny weeny but i tried a few on her...

On my days off from work i usually keep busy the entire day, doing things i need to do like running errands (haha Sophia) and cleaning my house.
Today i just relaxed and it was awesome, although not easy. It's hard for me to spend a day off not doing productive things. I always feel like i'm wasting my day. Anyway, I picked up Komet for the day and we just hung around the house being lazy. I've been in my PJ's all day. I painted for hours. I read. I took Komet on a short walk. I basically just did whatever.
It was nice.
Now i have a whole week of work ahead of me :(

I tried on a pair today. (i was bored at work okay)
They were actually really comfortable.
For one second i wished they weren't the most hideous shoes i have ever seen and that they really would give me an insta-model-bod. But then i remembered that they really are that ugly and dumb.
Who wears these?
I would like to know.
Do these people really think they're going to get in shape by simply wearing different shoes?
Are these people thinking, "Hey, now i will lose all those pounds i gained from eating Big Macs every other day when i "forgot my lunch."
The only thing you will lose, is your friends because they will be embarrassed to be seen with you and you're advertised attempt to lose weight the "easy way."

Let's grow up America. The only way to lose weight and keep it off is good old fashioned diet and exercise.

Zuccini Fries

I made these today and they were freakin easy, and delicious!

All i did was cut up zuccini and dip em in a little egg white and milk and then into some bread crumbs and parmesan cheese.
Bake at 425 for like 15 min.

Can't wait until i can do this with homegrown zuccini from the garden!

I feel like i want to blog. A lot. Perhaps everyday.
But what do i talk about? When i sit and think about what to blog about, i can't think of anything worthy to write about. There is plenty going on in my life but really, i don't think people want to hear about me getting my car "fixed" for the FIFTH time. Or me working every night of my life. Or me forgetting my lunch at work that i was going to bring home and eat for dinner.
But i guess those are all crappy things.
There are good things going on in my busy life too, but again, are they blog worthy?
Like me reading a wonderful book called The hunger games. Or me gardening nonstop, not only at my house but my friend Sophia's and my moms. Or me learning to cook Indian food with two gentleman friends and Jenny at Sur La Table?
For some reason when i think about the things going on in my life, they just seem so unbloggable.
That is why most of my posts end up being of photo's or videos of some sort.
I think a lot of it may have to do with me looking through my daily handfull of blogs before i actually choose to write my own. I see all these AMAZING ones and a lot more annoying ones that make me want to barf on my keyboard, and it makes me lose interest in writing myself.

Oh well i guess...

Life has been good lately. I feel like i have been getting alot accomplished!
I've been working on setting goals and going through with them and achieving them and it's been great. I can't get everything done i want to, but i am taking it day by day and remembering that it's okay if i can't get EVERYTHING done in one day. There is always tomorrow.
I feel like my life is going to be taking a turn for the better? Could it be? I hope so. Thinking and feeling positive sure seems to help.

I love nail polish. I want "You don't know Jacques" by OPI. I don't know Jacques, but i really wanna.

I love shoes. I want to buy a million pairs. Right now i have my eye out for a good pair of heels (particularly open toed, hurry up summer!) and a pair of gold flats.

I love Rihanna's hair. Scratch that, i love Rihanna in general. But mostly i want her hair, only white, like Pink's.

I love makeup and lately i want more of it, even though i have plenty. I wanna try this.

I love V Chocolates chocolate covered strawberries. I wish someone would leave me some on my porch...

Since i don't have anything good to write about, you (whoever is reading this) gets to read about my swim suit frustrations. Next week is our long awaited cruise to the Caribbean! I have been trying to find a good swimming suit top and boy is it hard. I need something better than just Target, my friends. Why is it that they make bras to support what ya got but when it comes to swimming suits, its like they decided to skip out on that one little factor. Um, thanks but no thanks. I ordered a swimming suit top (Bottoms are easy to find and i love a good mismatched swim suit) from Victoria's Secret thinking it would be my answer, but i was sorely mistaken. I am still in search of the perfect swimming suit top with SUPPORT. Anyone else agree with me?

On the other hand i was completely oogling over the Nordstrom January 2010 catalog.

AND i bought this glorious hat that will have to distract from my ill-supported boobs.

Oh i cannot WAIT for summer!

Yesterday and today we worked on our volunteer project at the Ronald McDonald house and everything turned out awesome! My talented mother did the amazing design on the wall, while the rest of us did everything else. I think everything turned out great and i had so much fun!

It's official. At the end of January when you are so sick and tired of the cold and snow, i'll be headed off to the carribean. BOO YEAH!

This is how i thought today would go:

-Sleep in
-Head to work for bit (not fun, but not too bad considering it was only for a couple hours)
-go to my mom's to pick up more things for this jewelry making rampage i've been on
-come home
-finish my jewelry
-make a yummy dinner using one of the new cookbooks i just got from the library
-hang out with the girls

This is how today went:

-tried to sleep in but kept waking myself up, fearing i'd overslept (why does that happen sometimes?)
-went to work for a few hours
-started heading toward my mom's, on the freeway. (Normally freeway is not my choice of route but i figured at 2:15 in the afternoon it shouldn't be bad...)
-instantly after getting on the freeway come to a complete stop
-stuck in traffic
-not moving
-still not moving
-watching the boy in front of me dance in his car
-stomach growling
-feet cold, rest of body hot
-watching the boy in front of me eat a sandwich, then get out of his car and brush the crumbs off his lap
-still not moving
-one hour later, get off the freeway at the first exit possible
-15 minutes later arrive at mom's
-talk to mom and find out there is an 8 car pile up blocking the whole freeway
-Finally home and way to tired for any of my other plans
-annoyed at the world.

Oh and i just realized it's friday the 13th. Of course it is.

My friend Sophia and i have decided to "Re-do" a room again this year for the Ronald McDonald house. We are so excited as the room we did last year turned out awesome! To raise money this year, we're having a little fundraiser. Sophia's good friend Angie is an AWESOME photographer and is doing Christmas photos for the little ones! It is $25.00 and you get two digital proofs! We will also be selling treats and little gifts. Of course, all the proceeds go toward doing the room at the Ronald McDonald house! The fundraiser will be held November 14th from 10-4. You can set up an appointment or just come on by! Leave me a comment if you need info! Halloween this year was so much fun! Well, Halloween is fun every year...
I mean, who doesn't love getting dressed up as something else? I know i sure do!
Anyway there were five of us girls who all went as indians and we all made our costumes. I meant to get a picture of us in the process of making them because you should have seen our basement....it was a MESS, but it was a blast. We had paint, glue, feathers, beads, leather etc etc EVEYRWHERE. We took "Tall Tee's" and cut and sewed them to fit us. Everyones had a different style/shape. It turned out so cute and it was really easy.

Gabe, Erin and Ben came too and they looked awesome! Special props to Ben who people probably thought didn't dress up but oddly enough, Bens day to day attire does not consist of Diamond earrings and a tear drop tattooed below his eye...

We had so much fun singing one little two little three little indians...all night long!

I left my brand new ring in the bathroom at work.
First day wearing it.
Why i still take my rings off to wash my hands i don't know.
My very first "real" ring (real meaning sterling silver and not those cheap bend-to-fit-your-finger kinda rings) i got when i was just a wee one got stolen when i left it in the bathroom.
I still feel a pain in my stomach when i think about that.
But i did it again.
i washed my hands and left my ring sitting on the counter.
About 15 minutes later i remembered and ran frantically to the restroom where someone was walking out.
I asked her if there was a ring on the counter in there and she said YES!
She could have easily taken that ring for herself but she didn't! What a nice person!
It could also be because i like such gaudy jewelry and this ring is about the size of Texas and she thought it was hideous but either way i'm so happy i got it back!

Booth and Daneen Booth. He was a very active and outgoing young man who made friends where ever he went. He accepted and loved people for whom they were. Michael had a real love for sports, especially hockey and golf. He graduated from West Jordan High School in 2005. He served an honorable mission for the LDS Church in Mexico City, Mexico. He loved his mission and the people he served there. Michael leaves behind his mother, Daneen; father, Bill (Connie); brothers and sister, Matthew (Amber), Amber (Doug) Pincock, little bro' Anthony; nieces and nephews, Preston, Lilli, Dilynn and Cohen; grandparents, Walter and Shirlene Fisher and William F. Booth and many extended family. Preceded in death by his grandmother, Carolyn Booth and uncle, Nathan Booth. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 15th, 11:00 a.m. at the Elm Creek Ward, 8539 S. 2200 W. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6- 8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to services on Thursday.

There's nothing to really say about this. My friend died and i'm so sad. RIP.

Portland!

This last weekend i was in Portland with the roommates. We stayed with Marrissa's aunt and uncle which was awesome since we didn't have to pay for a hotel!
The whole trip was so much fun...here's a little overview...

Day 1.
We got to Portland around four and Marrissa's aunt Jamie picked us up. She took us downtown where we met her uncle Paul for dinner. It was delicious of course and they were so nice to pay for our meal for us. Then we went walking around downtown through the gallery crawl that was going on. There was a ton of artwork dispalyed in the streets and we visited a few of the art schools too. I love looking at other peoples art, its so inspiring! Everywhere in Portland is decorated in local art. It's fantastic if you ask me.

Anyway, then her uncle who is an architect, showed us around the city and told us about the different buildings he's done and what they used to be and kind of gave us a history on each building. It was really interesting. Then we went on a tour of these condos that are being built and they were amazing! So expensive though.

No one looks good in a hard hat okay.

Then we hit the hay early. We were tired.

Day 2.
We woke up and went downtown to this place Isabel's (i think that's what it was called) for what was supposed to be breakfast but ended up being lunch. It was delicious! Then we wandered around downtown going in little shops and stuff. We went to this place called Cupcake Jones which was scrumptious. I LOVE cupcakes! I got one called downtown cupcake brown. It was basically a dark chocolate cupcake. Mmmm!

We also went to this place called Powell's city of books which was heaven! It covered a whole block and was 4 floors! They had new and used books mixed in too which rocked. Loved that place. Then we went to lunch at a place called Jake's for lunch which was the best place in town for fish, or so we were told from the many people we asked on the streets. It definitley lived up to our expectations. Just imagine...Coconut crusted mahi mahi with mango chutney...YUMMY! (you will begin to see the pattern here of eating delicious food. We ate alot on this trip...) Later that night we met up with my friend Kat and her husband Ryan (Kat used to work at MAC with me before she moved to Portland)and a few of their friends and went out. We went 80's dancing at this place called the Crystal Ballroom which had a crazy wood floor that had springs in it so the floor sort of bounced. It was great!

We also stopped by another yummy place called Voodoo Donuts for a midnight snack of a maple bar with bacon on it. Yup you heard me right. Bacon. On a maple bar. It was quite delicious, tasted like breakfast. This place is open 24 hours and seems to be quite popular...

Oh, and let's not forget i got hit on by a lesbian....awkward!

Day 3.
Woke up and headed back downtown to the saturday market. Basically a giant fiesta of booths and food and crafts. Oh and dogs, there are tons of dogs in Portland i love it! Shopped around for a bit, munched on gyros, people watched etc. We saw these two guys playin drums on buckets and stuff, they were actually really good!

Later we went with her aunt and uncle and picked up her cousin who came home from school in seattle. Then we went out shopping on 23'rd street which is this pretty tree filled street with shops lining it. Lots of them are cute little local shops. Then we went and got pizza and later that night we saw "Whip it" which i loved.

Day 4.
The last day mostly consisted of going out for breakfast and hanging around before going home. Not much. But it was a great end to our spectacular vacation!

Rut-a-tut-tut

Man i am in a blogging rut! Ever had one of those? They suck. Nothing seems worthy enough to blog about.
Maybe once i get back from Portland, this rut will be "so last week."
Oh and yeah, you heard me right, i'm headed to Portland. Tomorrow. yeahhhhh.

Can't wait to feast my eyes on the beautiful greenery scenery!

I don't know why but i LOVE the fair more than life itself. It pleasures me in more ways than a man ever could and frankly, i wish i could follow the fair around from town to town.
Yesterday me and some of the girls went to the fair and of course it was a blast.
Get a load of this:

I got pumpkin pie ice cream from "Trudys poppin johnny ice cream" and yes it had REAL pumpkin pie mixed in.

If i were a sheep i would be this sheep. He was the only one with a cute patterned design on his coat!

My FAVORITE ride of all time. I could ride this ride everyday of my life and still laugh my guts out everytime! If you aren't familiar with the starship 2000 let me inform you of its workings. You stand against the walls in this round room and it starts spinning SUPER fast. Fast enough that eventually you are pinned to the wall like a fly on flypaper. You can even scoot up toward the ceiling to where your feet aren't touching the floor. You will instantly start laughing once this ride starts and you won't stop until it's over and you are so dizzy you can't walk. I want one of these in my backyard.

I wanted to buy this cute lil poncho for a little kid but i have no little kids in my life! Ummm, Sarah?

Lately i have loved looking at deocr8 due to something they have been doing called, my favorite things. The girl who blogs on this site recently moved to another country, so she has had alot of guest bloggers. She has had them all take pictures inside their house of things they love and its so interesting and inspiring to see everyones choices. Especially since these people are all pretty creative.
Anyway, after reading her blog daily i started thinking about what i would choose. I decided to do it and show ya'll so here ya go.

i know i know, i'm normally not a tagger but c'mon. This ones different.

~This is my GIANT magnet board that i snagged from Nordstrom when they were shutting down the old store. I love it because i am constantly adding more. It has pictures of my friends and family, pictures that inspire me, homemade magnets etc.
Looking at this board makes me happy and inspired.

~This chest is definitely one of my favorite things because i completely transformed it. I wish i had thought to take a before picture but i didnt...
It used to be brownish with all the paint peeling off. Pretty trashed looking. I sanded it down (with the help of my mom of course!) and painted it red. I LOVE it. And because my cute lil couch somehow found its way in this picture i have to add i love that too. 70 bucks on KSL. Mint condition ;) It's curved if you can't tell.

~This painting is one of my absolute favorite things in life. It was done by my great grandma whom i never knew but SO wish i did. I feel extrememly lucky to even have this painting. To learn more about her click here to see my sisters blog...

~This last one is just a picture of my bed. I love my bed for alot of reasons.
Because its a queen size and its all to myself. Growing up i always had a twin which was fine until i went through a growth spurt and suddenly found myself not quite so comfortable.
Because it has cute mismatched pillows on it. I LOVE hunting for pillows.
Because i make it every single day so its the one thing that always looks pretty no matter how messy my room gets.

Today while starting out a hunt for the perfect supplies to create these incredible earrings i have inside my head, i came across these tiny Japanese erasers at Roberts. I LOVE all things miniature (which is why i played with barbies till i was about 14), so of course, i was in love. They are so funny and cute, i had to buy one, even though i really just wanted to buy them all... I don't even think they really erase but thats fine they're so cute i wouldn't want to ruin mine with pencil smears all over it.
